Don’t Ignore Reactions to Nuts

I was a little bit concerned but I really didn’t think much about it because I also have food allergies that I have to deal with regularly.
The reaction started to get a little bit stronger so I took the information to his doctor and ask him what could be the problem. I was asked several questions and it didn’t take long for the doctor to be able to determine that what he was having was a reaction to nuts. What I was really surprised about is the fact that these reactions could be bad enough that it could kill him.
I immediately began to learn everything that I could about nuts, where they exist in the environment around us and where they hide in the foods that we eat. I was surprised to find out that it was almost impossible to stay completely away from them unless you were completely informed on these things.
The last thing that I wanted to have happen is for my son to have a severe reaction to nuts that were hidden, somehow in the food that he was eating.
I also began to carry around a few things, just in case he had an allergic reaction that was severe. For example, I always carried some over-the-counter antibiotics so that I could give him a dose if he should happen to show some mild reactions whenever he was eating. His doctor also gave me a prescription for and epinephrine autoinjector which was only to be used if he had a severe and life-threatening reaction which is known as anaphylaxis.
I’m very happy that I didn’t ignore the fact that he had a problem and that food allergies were beginning to display themselves. Due to the fact that people who have nut allergies react differently at different times, I was fortunate that I was able to find out before he ever had a reaction that was too severe that I was unable to overcome it.
I make it a point to check out everything that he eats and to tell all of his friend’s parents that this is not a light matter and they need to be informed about what they feed to my son as well. It takes a little bit of work on my part, but my son is well worth it.
